Back stage

I was backstage briefly as a member of the press after the show. Talked with Bobby W. Almost got to interview Jerry the next day. He cancelled.

The closest to Jerry I ever was -

This was my fourth show and I made a point of getting front row seats (camped at the Popejoy box office), borrowed a friends Nikon - and ended up spending more attention to documenting the show than enjoying the music - didn't dance the whole show - last time I would do that ;-)

After the show I was shut out of a party at the Albuquerque Hilton and ended up tripped out, sitting in a stairwell between floors - just spacing on the night's wonders - when someone came down the stairs - Jerry. I was sitting on my butt - he walked by looking down at me - stopped for a second, before continuing down the stairs, and smiled...

I smiled back - it was all I could do, not a word did I say, not did he. We just smiled, and instead of missing the party, I felt blessed to be there at that time.

quick thoughts

All that cirulates is the meat of set 2. It'd be really nice to hear this entire show. In some ways there is more energy and inventiveness than on other nights. There are vocal problems in Terrpain, and I don't think Playing gets out there, but both are really good, and the Iko sound fresh, Wheel is very good, Wharf is great, and Sugar Mag rocks. VG set, 9/10
