Funny, no mention of Zimmy. I read in the Chronicle that the crowd was 75K, but knowing Bill he oversold it and I would
say attendance 95K or pehaps even more.
By far the largest grouping of humanity I have ever experienced. Sat in the 3rd base line
and could not see the stage so well due to the distance, but the sound and crowd was great.
Stuck inside mobile was a treat and a half. Shelter from the Storm was my favorite.
This and Mountain Aire made the summer great for me.
look about one step away from "homelessness".... seemed to be "dressed" in rags... poor Bob, those were a few tough years in that strech prior to re-hooking back up with Tom Petty and the Boys once again!
Loved the line-up of songs, but felt the Boys really "carried" Bob D through this one.... Loved the additional effort getting through Watchtower.
Love you Bob D., but Gerry, I'll always love you Better - FOREVER..

This was my first show in probably about 5 years. I had moved to to Santa Cruz in 81. Got a girl pregnant in 82. And she was NOT a Deadhead! What was I thinking? Money & time were hard to come by in those days. Think I had recently got a decent job. And I wasn't going to miss this combo!
Was driving her brother's Karmann Ghia that he gave us. I was having a great drive bopping to some Motown on the radio when traffic came to a stop. Couldn't find the brake fast enough and had a little fender bender. Still made it to the show. Greatly enjoyed the Dead playin Dylan but I have to agree he was looking pretty raggady.
But I remember Jerry's face. He was having a GREAT time playing with Bob.
This one, I had looked forward to for quite some time!

I taped this one. Got both of them! Why was it my last live one? It just had some sort of feel for me. Just something about it all. And, I had some good herb, wanted to share, rolled up a joint, passed it to someone next to me, he said "no thanks, got my own.!!! that said something to me, like "It's all over now, baby blue." I do remember the drums/space. Strange metal sound coming from Mickey.
My first Quadrophonic Drums & Space - oowie! Jerry sang "...why don't you arrest me?" and everybody laughed.
Almost forgot - thanks to Kim & John & Kendall for underwriting trip from AK, and muchas gracias to David who gave me his ticket. He was into Bonjovi at the time, anyway, though later became hot drummer who played The Eleven w/no problem!
