October 22 - October 28, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll check in on 13 years of Grateful Dead history, from 1972 to 1985.
Our first stop this week is on 10/24/72 in Milwaukee, WI, where we have the second set jam of Truckin'>Drums>The Other One>Space>He's Gone>The Other One. These Fall 1972 second sets featuring The Other One as the jam centerpiece are some of the best jams the Grateful Dead ever played.
Next we have the end of the second set from 9/23/82 in New Haven, CT, featuring The Wheel>The Other One>Wharf Rat>Around and Around>Johnny B. Goode, Baby Blue. This was a fine tour for the Grateful Dead, including some of the newer songs (Touch Of Grey, West L.A. Fadeaway, Throwing Stones, Day Job).
Next up is the entire second set from 11/22/85 at the Kaiser in Oakland, with Touch of Grey>Estimated Prophet>Eyes Of The World>Drums>Space>Morning Dew>Throwing Stones>Lovelight, Brokedown Palace.
Be sure to stop by next week for more tunes from the vault. As always, we encourage you to write to us with questions or comments, sent to the email address below.

If there is an official October '72 Dave's Pick, you'll need a time machine to go back to the second before it is announced to insure getting one before they are sold out.
October '72 (for me) is the PINNACLE of the ENTIRE DEAD PERFORMING CAREER droooooooooLLLLLLLLL
If there isn't much in the Vault, release everything you have from October, call it the "Everything We Have From October '72 in the Vault Box Set." :)
Such a special month -
such a special week -
such a special day -
a
very
special
day.
Hope your day was wonderful and
the year ahead- all that and then some too.
I am grateful for...
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ...beautiful white and black keys
(thunder sound and crackle of lightening)
Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah
The only band that matters.
this GD72 strengthens my case for "why bother listening to any GD after 1979." Sure there are good shows after 1979 that were fun to attend, as well as to listen to on CD or tape or whatever now, but I don't listen to them much because there is so much awesome stuff in the previous years.
thanks again for another week of nice tunes.
just a little over a week until the next 30 days of dead !!
thank you david...... those autumn tours :)))))
11/22/85
has brought the day in
delightfully!
I Love the Crowd after
Lovelight.
Good Cheer all day to all of you, xo!
