Tapers Section By David Lemieux

Greetings, and welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1974, 1977 and 1981.

Our first stop is 7/25/74 in Chicago, where we have the first part of the first set, featuring Me and My Uncle, Loose Lucy, Black Throated Wind, Loser, BIODTL, Sugaree, Mexicali Blues, Brown-Eyed Women, El Paso. That show-opening Me and My Uncle has some minor mix problems, but the sounds settles in nicely.

Next is music from the first night of a three night run in Passaic, NJ, on 4/25/77, with second set tunes featuring Terrapin Station>Playing In The Band>Drums>Jam>Wharf Rat>Playing In The Band, US Blues. This was the third show on the excellent Spring Tour 1977.

Lastly this week is some music from St. Louis on 7/8/81, where we have the start of the show: Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Feel Like A Stranger ; Peggy-O > Little Red Rooster.

Join us next week for more tunes from the vault.

Sweet Wharf Rat in the '77 clip.

The Brown-Eyed-Women a delight in the '74 too.

Love and light and every goodness to gather to you---all, xo!

84 Brent

I agree - I just love Brent in 84. I actually love Brent in most years. Late 79 was some pretty wacky keys from him, too,

thanks Dave. We appreciate this a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frogginess

Anyone else hear weird frogginess in the vocals from the '81 selection? I mean, like an alien vibrato thing going on?

I am NOT complaining, just wondering if it's me/my computer, or the recording.

Weird, I only really hear it on Miss. Half Step. Maybe I'm losing it. Otherwise, I am digging the '81 selection.

Great, mysterious, neon-lit, Stranger. Reminds me of cruising a Vegas strip at 3 a.m. in a convertible on the way to another strip-joint. Not that I've ever done that. Honestly.

From July '84, I'm partial to 7/1, 7/3 and 7/14. What can I say (other than we pretty much listed 'em all)? haha...

and stoltzfus is screamin' TERRAPIN!

check out 7/22/84's Terrapin. This 4/25/77 one is good, straight forward. 7/22/84's is other-worldly.

I love Brent's keys in GD84. That is a relatively unknown GD year. Get shows from July 84 if nothing else. They are great, great Grateful Dead.
