March 5 - March 11, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1969, 1970 and 1988.
Our first stop this week is on 8/30/69 at the Family Dog in San Francisco, where we have a somewhat classic sequence of Dark Star>Stephen>The Eleven>Drums>High Time, with that High Time taking the place of the usual Lovelight or Death Don't Have No Mercy.
Next is music from Honolulu, HI, on 1/24/70, which is Tom Constanten's final show as a member of the Grateful Dead (although he did play the next week in New Orleans, and then of course on 4/28/71). From this show we have Cumberland Blues, Cold Rain and Snow, Me and My Uncle, King Bee, Mason's Children, Black Peter.
Our last stop this week is on 9/6/88 at the Capital Center in Landover, MD, the final night of a four night run, which featured the one-time return of Ripple at the 9/3/88 show. From this show, we have the bulk of the second set, featuring Estimated Prophet > He's Gone > Drums > Space > The Other One > Wharf Rat > Throwing Stones > Not Fade Away; Brokedown Palace.
Be sure to stop by next week for more great tunes from the vault.

Would make a nice box set.
Landover, MD The Capital Centre was a great venue, Saw The Grateful Dead in 77, Terrapin Station :) Love it great place to see a show, my first concert there actually was Led Zeppelin a few months before the Dead show, as they say, the bus came buy and I got on and oh boy what a long strange it has been. Peace and Love to all
Love the pick this week, DL. Keep'em coming!
David, nice pick's (hint hint), thanks for the Family Dog 69, and the second set complete with drums and space from 88, very big difference in the sound of the two, I must say, both very good.
This Dark Star sneaks up on you...pulls you in. Thanks, David.
thanks for the audio links, David
