Grateful Dead
February 27 - March 4, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we will remain within a four year span of Grateful Dead history, with some great music from 1978 and 1982.
Our first stop is in Chicago on 2/1/78, where we have music from the final show of a three night run, Samson and Delilah, It Must Have Been The Roses, Estimated Prophet>He's Gone. This short six show Midwest tour featured great shows in Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee and Cedar Falls.
Next is music from 2/19/82 in San Diego, where we have New Minglewood Blues, Alabama Getaway>Promised Land, Ship of Fools, Lost Sailor>Saint of Circumstance.
Lastly this week is music from Nassau Coliseum on 4/11/82 during the excellent Spring Tour of 1982. From that show we have Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Franklin's Tower > El Paso ; Candyman > Little Red Rooster, with the Rooster featuring some terrific scat singing by Brent.
Be sure to join us next week for more music from deep within the vault.

In a recent marathon session of the Archival Committee, a motion overwhelmingly passed officially recognizing the 3 Chicago shows from the Uptown- 1/30, 1/31 and 2/1/78, as finalists for a 1978 Box Set. Also noteworthy was the Chair's request to amend the minutes of the meeting to include the nomination of US Blues from 4/12/78 as one of the most thrilling performances of this song. Not to be outdone, the Vice Chair then nominated Peggy'O from 10/30/77 as one of the finest versions ever played. It was one of those had-to-be-there moments, and the tension in the air was suffocating. As is often the case, the Treasurer lightened the situation by playing this week's Taper's Section over the Committe's intercom speakers.
Wow, you can hear the drummers and Phil goin' ta town. Jerry and Bob ain't slouching either. Man, reminds me of my touring days! Thanks DL, keep them coming.
I believe many of my friends are already using Office 2010 or Office 2007, the two takethe Open XML file format is different from the past, for example. Docx, xlsx,. Pptx, new file format is clearly more efficient. However, if you open the old format Office files, takethe "Save As" method to upgrade to Office document format, is clearly considerabletrouble. In fact, the official Microsoft has provided us with the upgrade tool, it cancomplete the task bulk upgrade Download Microsoft Office 2010 documents

Good to hear Zuckfun, xo!
There is nothing like a good Treasurer!
Treasure.
Treasures.
Treasurer.
The Keeper of The Treasure or
Treasures
is The Treasurer.
A good Treasurer is Priceless.
A justified bank account is too.
People today rarely can fathom
such a thing and their signature on
a paper is mostly a joke. They
have sold their name for an APR%
and getting it back is almost obsolete.
Hey Dave I think you are not only
the Grateful Dead Archivist your
a Treasurer too, Ha! Kudos, Man!
According to me- that is. Ha.
Look at our money and there
is a Treasurers name on it, Ha!
I wonder about that. Blue Suede.
Are you a good Treasurer or
a bad Treasurer?
If I tell another...
I don't know...
It must have been the roses...
All I know....
Thanks, xo!
