April 30 - May 6, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have some fine Grateful Dead from 1981, 1984 and 1989.
Our first stop this week is the opening of the second set in Kansas City on 7/7/81, where we have Man Smart, Woman Smarter, Candyman, Estimated Prophet>Eyes Of The World. That was the second-ever version of Man Smart, debuted a few days earlier on 7/2/81. It's also cool to hear a rare second set Candyman.
Next up is the end of the first set from Akron, OH, on 6/29/84, with a couple of quite-new songs (1983 and 1982) followed by a couple of older tunes: Hell In A Bucket ; West L.A. Fadeaway ; The Music Never Stopped > Don't Ease Me In.
Lastly this week, from the tour-opening show on 7/2/89 in Foxboro, MA, we have the end of the second set, featuring The Wheel>Dear Mr. Fantasy>Hey Jude>Sugar Magnolia, Mighty Quinn. the show had few major surprises, specifically the show-opening playing>Crazy Finger, and the second set-opening Friend Of The Devil.
Join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.

& Mystical Don't Ease! Is the Music from this show?
....another great Taper's! After listening ,watching and a great night at the movies I would just like to say '89 Dead is great! That summer and spring I saw them the most and it brings back great memories and the songs and playing were AWESOME! Ya gotta love this website! Take care all!
happy birthday and enjoy the tunes!
I know how hard it can be just to do what we need to do,let alone find the time for what we WANT to do. Today,I want to listen to the Dead, take the day off from work and read a book. Today's my 51st birthday and I'm more Grateful just to wake up ,have my health,my family and my friends. Just checking in as I listen to Taper's Section . Yours, Grateful ted
Well, I am not sure about requests here
but I'd love a Samson and Deliah, xo!
A small but acknowledged part of my great day
today is attached to that. See I am for one of my
job's a Rental Property Manager and I've had a
house that got destroyed by crack dealers gone
wild and it took alot to get them out and take in
the losses. I didn't take on the house until they
were already $5,000.00 in arrears and eviction
was imminent. Thus, I collided with the circumstance
at that point, trying to make it best for all parties
involved but quite a difficult situation, to be sure.
Well, ect. the house was about wrecked as it got.
I was sickened and repulsed at the standards some
people will drop to. Well, I thought the owner should
maybe just make a parking lot, he disagreed several
times. He's changed his mind! I'm ecstatic... the
other great point is parking is really needed for the
7-unit building that it neighbors(poor neighbors during that)
but um yeah! Couple of scrappers are ripping it up right
now and the they're gonna come and tear that old building down!
I dropped off the rest of brokenness there today and
can't wait to park in the new parking lot.
I sang Samson and Deliah on multiple trips to that place
and this one is off the bucket list.
The irony here is interesting too but hey you can fix some
things and -not others, tough to call but wisdom hath it's place
for that now doesn't it.
I would tear that old building down! Check.
I am so blest, I love you, all. xo
I saw him in Vegas in 2000....not kidding, one of the better nonGD concerts I've seen in recent memory. He played like an hour or something and it was all meat, no frills, hit after hit, then out. Also was there in Eugene that one time he played harp....they needed turn him up hin the mix a bit!
